My Fourth Blog Post

  Ruby Bridges: How it all Began Ruby Bridges was the first black student to enter an all white school, and faced many challenges in the process. At a young age, Ruby helped end segregation in schools, and paved the way for the Civil Rights movement. This is the story of Ruby Bridges.  It all started with the Brown v. The Board of Education trial. A man named Oliver Brown from Topeka, Kansas, along with twelve other parents sued their local school system for not allowing their children to attend the school, and forcing them to go to schools much farther away. All because the school was for white students only. Thurgood Marshall argued for them that segregated schools would never be equal. All nine Supreme Court Justices decided in favor of Oliver Brown, and in 1954, segregation was officially illegal in both schools, and everywhere else. Even if someone else wins in the end, you won’t feel like a sore loser, because you have done everything to achieve your best. But, there are also many benefits that not many people know about, such as how it helps mental health and memory. Dance can have an effect on children as young as two, or even children as old as twelve. Here are some of the benefits, or effects, of dance. The most known effect that dance has, is physical benefits. Dance can help improve conditions of a child’s heart and lungs, and can increase muscular strength and endurance. My Thoughts on the Arts

  Arts Programs getting Cut Many schools are cutting arts programs almost completely out of their curriculum. But why? Why are these schools making budget cuts? Why are other programs supposedly  more important than the arts? Let's find out. The main reason why arts programs are being cut from schools, is because of budget cuts. Schools are making these budget cuts, and giving little funding to the arts programs, so that the funding can be rerouted to more core subjects like math and english.
